Glow with Gifts from Nature: Living on Raw with David Wolfe

<img src=http://suprememastertv.com/data/file/featured/2042028120__AW1593.jpg border='0' width='250'align=left hspace=10>David Wolfe(m): We've dulled ourselves

down with this toxic food

and food that's not natural.

And when we bring back

the natural, we also

bring back the spiritual.

We invite in more glow

and more radiance and

we start to feel a sense

of something higher,

of something greater.

And the way I describe that,

and the way I phrase that,

is that we feel

something noble,

we feel a noble essence

in raw foods.

Through

the Foundation's efforts,

thus far tens of thousands

of fruit trees

have been planted

in North America,

South Asia, and Africa.

In our interview

we asked David

to discuss the advantages

of a raw food diet.

He began by defining

the term “raw food.”

David Wolf:

What is raw food again？

It's fruits and vegetables,

and nuts and seeds,

and seaweeds,

all raw and organic,

flowers, sprouts,

grasses like wheatgrass,

superfoods

and super herbs.

One of the great gifts that

it gives us, it allows us

to really begin to detect

what's going on in our body

and it gives us a lot of

insight in that way.

Of course there's great

nutrition in these foods,

and there's wonderful

amounts of antioxidants,

vitamins and minerals,

and trace minerals,

and polysaccharides,

which are essential sugars

that heal us.

HOST:

David Wolfe is well known

for his uplifting lectures

on how raw foods

can change one's life

for the better.

Why does he feel

so passionate

about raw food？

David Wolfe:

Raw food has definitely

made me more open to

that infinite supply of love

that emanates from

all living things, and

really from everything.

It allows you

to tune into subtler forces

that are available to us.

It allows you

to tune into beauty,

and the beauty ethic,

and the power of beauty

and in transforming

our self and

in transforming others.

It tunes you

into the great depth of

the mystery of our world,

and the mystery

of the cosmos, which to me

is so incredible.

Because

our creator is so deep,

and so incredibly rich,

that it's a mystery.

HOST:

David is a firm believer

in the sanctity of life

and that our diet should

always reflect a respect

for all beings.

David Wolfe(m):

To bring the vibration

of this whole planet up

we have got to

stop this killing.

And it's not just war.

It's also what we're having

for breakfast.

It's not just there's people

shooting each other.

It's also we're

shooting these animals

and we're destroying

these noble life forms.

And we can very deeply

benefit spiritually from

removing ourselves

from that karma,

and opening ourselves

up to other choices:

vegan, vegetarian

and then beyond that,

raw food.

Vegetarianism: A Shared Ideal for Humanity - Interview with Chief Rabbi David Rosen (In Hebrew)

<img src=http://suprememastertv.com/data/file/featured/2042028120__VEG1592.jpg border='0' width='250'align=left hspace=10>Rabbi Rosen(m):

Vegetarianism is clearly

the biblical ideal and

therefore every person

for whom the Bible is

a sacred text,

that should mean

every Jew and Christian

should be a vegetarian.

HOST:

Today, on the first

of a 2-part feature,

we will explore

the ancient wisdoms

of the Jewish faith, and

how the 30-century-old

teachings are very much

applicable to the issues

and ways of living in

our contemporary time -

for Jews and humanity

as a whole.

Narrator:

Ever since the Torah was

handed down to them,

the Jewish people

have been guided

by sacred words…

words that nourish

an enduring faith, one

that has survived intact

despite unimaginable

odds throughout history.

Narrator:

Judaism teaches

reverence for God,

respect for life,

the maintenance

of personal health, and a

code of conduct based on

compassion and justice.

It also provides

specific directions

on how to be responsible

custodians of the world

in which we live.

HOST:

We are honored to invite

the much respected Rabbi

David Rosen

for an interview

in the Holy Land of Israel.

Rabbi Rosen is

the International Director

of Interreligious Affairs

of the American

Jewish Committee,

Honorary President of

the International Council

of Christian and Jews,

and former Chief Rabbi

of Ireland.

In 2010, Rabbi Rosen

was made a Commander

of the British Empire (CBE)

by Her Majesty

Queen Elizabeth.

He is also an advocate

for the compassionate

and plant-based lifestyle.

Rabbi Rosen(m):

I was born in England,

but I came here

to Jerusalem

after high school

and I studied here.

I have my

rabbinic ordination from

the ultraorthodox world,

but I, even though

I didn't come from

that background,

I didn't stay in that world.

I met my wife here,

though she also

comes from England

but we met here in Israel.

And I was then rabbi

in South Africa

in Cape Town until 1979,

from '73 to '79.

And then I was Chief Rabbi

of Ireland

from `79 to `85.

We came back in 1985

to Jerusalem,

so we've have been

back in Jerusalem

for more than 25 years.

When I came back,

being involved

in interfaith realizations

in Israel was obviously

very important to me

because it relates to

the very fabric

of Israeli society.

Any society's wellbeing

and health depends upon

the condition

of its minorities,

or the minorities

within its society

are a reflection of itself.

So it's very important

for me to be involved

interfaith relations here.

HOST:

Rabbi Rosen

has traveled extensively

throughout the world

to share messages

of interfaith

and peace building.

He has met His Holiness

Pope Benedict XVI

on numerous occasions,

and has spoken alongside

religious and world leaders

including His Holiness

the Dalai Lama and

Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Rabbi Rosen(m):

And then

because of my profile as

Chief Rabbi of Ireland,

people knew of me,

organizations knew of me,

and started coming

and asking me

to represent them.

And then as a result,

I had a more of

an international profile.

And similarly,

the Israel Ministry

of Foreign Affairs wanted

my involvement in areas

that related to

interfaith relations,

especially when contacts

with the Vatican started.

And I was asked to be

part of the team that

negotiated, they agreed,

an establishment

of diplomatic relations.

And eventually then,

the American Jewish

Committee,

which is the oldest of

the American Jewish

advocacy agencies and

has a global outreach,

asked me to be in charge

of its interfaith work.

And in addition to

being responsible for

all its interfaith relations

around the world,

I'm also the advisor

to the Chief Rabbinate

of Israel

on interfaith relations

and therefore

have responsibility for

most of its interfaith work.

To find out more about

and welcome

to this edition of

Enlightening Entertainment.

Today, we set off on

an expedition to Cameroon

to enjoy the electrifying

rhythms of a popular

traditional dance

called Mankon Mask Dance.

We'll also discover

the enchanting

musical instrument

called the mvet.

The Mankon Mask dance

has long been

an indispensable

component of the culture

of the North-West Region

of Cameroon.

As a cherished feature

of the Mankon culture,

the dance

symbolizes unity,

expresses respect

for culture, and

brings joy to people.

The dancers

wear traditional attire

particularly designed

for the dance.

They also put on masks

portraying the faces

of animals to express

the Oneness of creation

and to show that humans

and animals should live

in peace and harmony.

The masks concealing

the identity

of the dancers also add

to spectators' excitement

about who the dancers

might be.

The instruments used

in the Ngombo

Mankon mask dance

include xylophone,

rattles, local trumpet,

and tunephone, which is

locally known as 『gong.』

One very peculiar aspect

about the Ngombo

Mankon mask dance

is that it can be

performed as a tribute to

a very important person;

in some cases, God.

African philosophy

firmly believes

that there must be

a Supreme Being

who is the Master of

the universe and

who can be viewed as

the pioneering force

of all creation.

This great being

is believed to be God.

In Cameroonian tradition,

God is often glorified

through an exhibition

of traditional dances

and songs.

Now, let's enjoy

a Ngombo

Mankon mask dance

performance, which

accompanies the song

titled, 『God is the Master

of the Universe.』

International's activities,

including its work in India.

We'll begin by learning

about some of the

notable achievements of

this caring organization.

Mr. Anantha(m):

Most refrigerators

in the world, at one time,

used to have ozone-depleting

substances in them.

Today, all of them

are ozone-free.

Several, companies today

also make refrigerators

that are ozone- friendly,

but not climate-friendly.

They've replaced

the CFC's

(chlorofluorocarbons)

with HFC's

(hydrochlorofluorocarbons).

So but Twenty years ago

Greenpeace developed

something called

"Green Freeze,"

a refrigerant that is both

climate and ozone-friendly.

And we're very happy

to say that today, except

for one or two companies,

most of the companies

in the world

produce Green Freeze.

That's one of the big

changes that we've made.

The Antarctic

protected area,

that's a contribution that

came from Greenpeace.

Stopping ocean dumping

basically,

that's another big thing

that Greenpeace did.

In the last three years,

there's been a moratorium

on expansion

of soya cultivation

in the Amazon,

again something

that Greenpeace did.

We got a declaration

that palm oil from

unsustainable sources

would not be bought

by the big companies,

again a contribution

of Greenpeace.

Here in India we basically

have brought in several

(pieces of) legislations

to deal with toxic wastes.

Our aim in India here,

top aim, would be

the government

moves away from coal

as the backbone

of the energy economy.

Oberom C. Silva:Returning to Our Divine Self through Breatharianism (In Portuguese)

<img src=http://suprememastertv.com/data/file/featured/1982698757__BMD1585-1.jpg border='0' width='250'align=left hspace=10>
HOST: In script-xures, the human body is often referred to as the
temple of God. Yet, it is quite an uncommon privilege for any soul to
attain this sacred abode that houses the Divine, as it is truly a
blessing to be reborn as a human being. On several occasions, Supreme
Master Ching Hai has spoken about the rarity of this phenomenon:

Supreme Master Ching Hai: To be reincarnated in the human world is
hard. You have to have enough Human Quality. You have to have affinity
with the parents and with the society, with the people around which you
are born. Very difficult.

To be a human, you need some merit. You have done something good in the past in order to be able to pick a human birth.

HOST: As a living temple of God, the human body is fully equipped
with miraculous wonders that can be awakened in those who are
spiritually conscious and have complete faith in the Creator of all
life.

Inedia, Latin for “fasting,” is the human ability to live without
food. Since time immemorial, there have always been individuals who can
sustain themselves on prana, or the vital life force. Through the grace
of the Providence, inediates, people who follow a food-free lifestyle,
can draw the energy from nature to nourish themselves:

Supreme Master Ching Hai: They live on the chi from the ground, or
from the forest, and from the sun and from the air. They make use of all
that. Or they live on love, on faith alone.

HOST: These individuals are known as breatharians, solarians,
waterians, or pranarians, and they come from all walks of life, from
different cultures, and all corners of the world.

Indeed, the possibilities and miracles in this life as our benevolent
Creator has designed for us are endless; we only need to connect within
to recognize our abounding largess as God’s children.

Supreme Master Ching Hai has lovingly recommended a weekly series on
Supreme Master Television to introduce those individuals of the past and
present who have chosen to live food-free on Earth. May their spiritual
stories enthrall you; may hearts be opened, and horizons be expanded.

We now invite you to join us for part 1 of our 4-part program, “Oberon C. Silva:
Returning to Our Divine Self through Breatharianism,” on Between Master and
Disciples.

OS(m): People perceive nutrition in physical factors,
and I would say this supply is much more subtly present in a field much higher,
that is this physical field that nourishes people. So, pranic consciousness or
living on light we'll be nourishing at a state of consciousness and, in that
case, a state of happiness.

And when we are living this happiness we are
creating a vibration in everything, a higher vibration. So, perceiving the world
as an organism and we are like planetary cells as we would be raising the
vibration of the planet for a more expanded consciousness... higher. And I think
it is much more important than to stop eating.

HOST: Greetings,
conscientious viewers. Today we visit the vast and multifaceted country of
Brazil in Latin America to speak with Oberon Silva, a big-hearted breatharian
who has a profound respect for life. Oberon is food-free for nine years.

OS(m): I realize that the vibrational pattern
that enters the body when you eat some physical element, if you are in a
sustained happiness, it does not vary. If you're caught up in the daily dramas
of being a victim, of control, of fear, of suffering - all that you place inside
you interferes with your vibration. You become totally vulnerable to external
vibrations, the outdoor vibrations.

And it's the same for the
environments that you hang out in, the companions that you have, your
entertainment, television - everything will bring that dense vibration, each
more inferior and will also undermine our energy, and each time that we are
linked, we are caught in this circuit of survival, of hunger, of the need to
eat.

And this also applies to food. If you eat low-frequency food, of
death, pain, suffering, violence, fear, you are entering the vibration
of these elements, which are very dense, very low vibrations. So it's hard for
you to live this happiness - I'm talking about this continuous
happiness, this awareness of being happy.

You live moments of joy here
and there and then enter again into this rollercoaster of sensations and
feelings. So the main idea that I see, even for the purpose of pranic
consciousness, is that the people are established in the consciousness - no
longer the ego creating structures, creating games.

Thus you can get out
of this ego mechanism of living in the past, living in the future, transiting
through pleasures, just watching and being happy with everything, being thankful
in the energy of gratitude, which is sublime. Gratitude is divine. It brings
this unlimited vibration, a vibration of God.

For more information about Oberon and his work, please contact:Oberon C.
"All We See is Possibility":The Alalayiha School for the Blind in Palestine (In Arabic)

According to World Health Organization statistics, cataracts are the leading
cause of blindness in the world, and every five seconds someone loses his or her
vision due to this illness or other reasons.

Globally approximately
285-million people are visually impaired, including 39.8 million who are totally
blind. http://www.emro.who.int/cpb/facts.htm

On today's program we'll
visit the Alalayiha School for the Blind in Beit Jala, Palestine, which provides
special education enabling the visually impaired and blind to smoothly integrate
into the public education system and develop their talents.

Alalayiha is
the first and the oldest school of its kind in the Arab world. Let us now hear
more about the school's background from its director, Mr. Mesbah Hijazi.
http://www.emro.who.int/cpb/facts.htm

Mr. Mesbah Hijazi(m): This organization is a
social-humanitarian institution providing academic and rehabilitative services
for blind students or children from the age of six and up to 16 years. It was
founded in 1938 in the city of Hebron. And later moved to Ramallah, to
Bethlehem, then to Beit Jala where we are now.

The students start here
from six years old, from the first grade. They graduate after the ninth grade,
so we rehabilitate these students in this period from six years (of age) to 16
to integrate them into their usual school, in the regular school. So they
continue in their secondary school in the usual school, with the other usual
students, and their university studies also continue as the others.

Wawa in California, USA.

During the interview, he spontaneously sang a

Animal Agriculture’s Generation of Deadly Black Carbon

eco-loving viewers,

and welcome to

Planet Earth:

Our Loving Home.

On today's program

we examine the effects

of the short-lived climate

forcer, Black Carbon, on ice masses

and planetary warming,

and the role

that animal agriculture

and deforestation

for livestock raising

play in intensifying

Black Carbon's impact.

Black Carbon,

also known as soot, is a

powerful warming agent

that originates from

the incomplete combustion

of fossil fuels,

diesel exhaust, inefficient

cook stoves mainly used

in developing countries

burning biomass such as

dried dung, wood, brush,

or crop residue as fuel,

and the clearing forests

and savannas with fire.

When the Black Carbon

particles are airborne,

they have an intense

warming effect, but have

an even greater impact

when they are deposited

on ice masses.

This is a major concern

and why Black Carbon

emissions need to be

addressed immediately.

Its atmospheric lifespan

ranges from

one to four weeks

and its Global Warming

Potential (GWP)

over a 20-year timeframe,

has been calculated to be

between a staggering

1,600 to 4,700 times

the warming-power

of carbon dioxide.

Black Carbon's

warming effect occurs

in two ways:
(1) In the atmosphere

as black particles

absorb sunlight

and generate heat; and,
(2) Particles are deposited

on the Earth's surface,

in particular on ice masses

where they reduce

the ability of the ice

to reflect sunlight

back into space

and cause rapid melting

by generating heat

from absorbing sunlight.

Imam Al-Fakir Asnawi,

believes that

eating a meat-free diet

is actually an act

of devotion to Allah.

KMA(m):

It is a worship.

As Ibnu Ruslan said,

if you have intention

and balance it

with strong reasoning

due to obedience to Allah,

then your wish

will be granted.

Whenever we eat with

the intention of devotion,

then that intention becomes

a devotion as well.

It means that eating has

a big value before Allah:

there will be merit

if our intention in eating

is for the sake of

the intensity of devotion.

So, on the basis

that our ideal is

for the sake of devotion,

food should be avoided

and observed except

for food that is tayyib

(good and pure)

and halal (permissible).

Meat is a disease,

beef is a disease.

It is proven and stated

by nutrition experts

that the beef available

nowadays contain

various kinds of diseases.

Therefore,

I emphasize again now:

it is better to eat

vegetarian food - meaning

consume food that is

produced from vegetables,

including those

made from soybeans.

The Prophet,

May Allah's Blessings

and Peace Be With Him,

had affirmed

that 70% of the prophets

in ancient times

consumed soybean - some

because

there are special things

and goodness because

plants are blessed by Allah,

Glory and Exalted He is.

It will have benefits

for our body.

Moreover, this food acts

as a strong foundation

for worship.

Worshipping with

halal (permissible) food,

tayyib (good and pure) food

will be accepted by Allah,

Glory and Exalted He is.

As in a Hadith,

the Prophet, May Allah's

Blessing and Peace

Be With Him, said,

“How can your prayer

Cameroon: Feeling the Heat of Climate Change (In Kamtok)

<img src=http://suprememastertv.com/data/file/featured/751265946__AW1574.jpg border='0' width='250'align=left hspace=10>Halo, green-conscious viewers, and welcome to this week's edition of Planet Earth: Our Loving Home featuring the impact of climate change on the Central African nation of Cameroon. As in other countries around the world, warning signs that our planet is seriously out of balance are appearing in Cameroon, and if a fast-approaching tipping point is passed, we will all face runaway global warming. One such frightening sign is Lake Chad, previously Africa's fourth-largest lake, which has shrunk ９０％ in size over the past ４０ years.

Dr. Yinda Godwill, Environmental Science program co-coordinator at the University of Buea in Buea, the capital of Cameroon's Southwest Region, is deeply concerned that climate change is quickly making his homeland a place far different than the one he once knew.

Dr. Yinda Godwill (m): The theory that we have about global warming, effects in Cameroon is that due to global warming, there will be more water evaporating from the sea and that water moves from the sea and rises up through the Cameroon mountain region and cools down there in the clouds and falls down as rain.

Up in the north, the waters in Lake Chad, and other waters that are up in the north would also be evaporating faster than they used to and more water will go up into the atmosphere. Now, what happens is this: Water, when it's in the atmosphere, tries to find itself so water vapor will move to where there is more water vapor.

So, you find out that in Cameroon, in the places where we used to have more rainfall, like in the Southwest here, like in Buea, there is a lot of rainfall, rain falls for a longer periods. This year we've had rain still falling in December, which was something that did not use to be.

By October's end the rain used to finish. We did not have rain again, maybe one little shower in December, but we've had rain falling continuously up till now. As we're talking now, rain clouds are building up, they might fall. And this is not normal; it's not normal. The amount of rainfall is increasing. So, the drier places are getting drier and the wetter places are getting wetter.

Supreme Master TV (m): And what are the implications of this in terms of agricultural productivity, in terms of the economy, in terms of lifestyle in general？

Dr. Yinda Godwill (m): Because of global climate change, Lake Chad basin, Lake Chad has reduced to a very small volume and it's threatening to even disappear. And that is affecting their way of life up there; those who were up there doing farming along that area because the fertility of that place and the water that was there are not operating at maximum (capacity), because the climate has changed. That's how it's affecting us.

HOST: Ni John Fru Ndi, founder and chairman of Cameroon's Social Democratic Front Party is also disturbed by how his nation is fundamentally changing due to the rapidly heating planet.

Ni John Fru Ndi (m): Well, you see for yourself that rains are falling in Cameroon now more than they have ever fallen before. You see that there are landslides; there are floods in Victoria, getting across to Douala and I was told the other day over the BBC that there were floods in Burkina Faso right in the center towards the desert. So, you see that this global warming is affecting the people.

For more information on these organizations, please visit the following websites
Social Democratic Front Party (Ni John Fru Ndi) www.SDFParty.org
Presbyterian Secondary School Bafut (Njitah Wilson) www.PSSBafut.com
University of Buea (Dr. Yinda Godwill) www.UBuea.net

Dr. Steve Blake - Promoting A Natural Way of Life

<img src=http://suprememastertv.com/data/file/featured/2009675004__AW1572.jpg border='0' width='250'align=left hspace=10>Greetings, joyful viewers, and welcome to this week's edition of Healthy Living, the first in a two-part series featuring the nutrition and wellness advice of Dr. Steve Blake, a vegan naturopath, herbalist, neuromuscular therapist, and Doctor of Holistic Health.

Dr. Blake is the author of the books 『Vitamins and Minerals Demystified,』 『Healing Medicine』 and 『Understanding Dietary Fats and Oils,』 the creator of health-related software, such as 『Diet Doctor,』 a nutritional analysis program and 『Herb Doctors,』 an electronic compilation of herbal remedies for various health conditions as well as the founder of the College of World Health in Maui, Hawaii, USA. He encourages a natural approach to health with a plant-based diet as its cornerstone.

Dr. Blake(m): It's estimated that every cell in our body is attacked １０,０００ times a day by free radicals, and we have １００ trillion estimated number of cells in our bodies, so that's really quite a lot. Luckily our bodies have two different types of defenses against free radicals. One is the vegetables and fruits that we eat are loaded with antioxidant vitamins, and also with antioxidant bioflavonoids and other polyphenols inside the plants.

Our other system of antioxidant protection involves our internal systems that are designed to scavenge these free radicals and to neutralize them and stop any damaging chain reactions that could happen.

HOST: Many of us have heard that free radicals, or atoms and molecules with unpaired electrons that can cause cell damage, are related to the aging process. Dr. Blake says free radicals are also connected to heart disease and stroke - which according to the World Health Organization are the leading causes of death worldwide.

Dr. Blake (m): Free radicals do cause heart disease and stroke most directly. Heart disease and stroke as you know are caused by atherosclerosis, the clogging of the arteries. And this at the beginning stage can happen from ages two to eight years old when the sides of the arteries are initially damaged and form fatty streaks. This process continues throughout life, and as we become older we become more susceptible to the end product of our atherosclerosis which is either a heart attack or a stroke.

Now when we want to circulate cholesterol in the bloodstream, which is very useful for our bodies, for instance we make steroid hormones like testosterone out of this, when our liver wants to package this cholesterol for circulation in the blood, our liver puts on antioxidant protection in a form of vitamin E.

HOST: When accompanied by this antioxidant, Low-Density Lipoprotein or LDL cholesterol can be beneficial to us. However insufficient amounts of vitamins E and C in the body leads to LDLs becoming oxidized by free radicals, thus injuring us. Dr. Blake(m): LDL will stick to and damage the inside of our arteries leading to atherosclerosis, which leads to heart attack and stroke. And for this purpose lots of fresh fruits and vegetables are very good to take every day. In their raw form is always best.

HOST: What about taking a synthetic vitamin E supplement to avoid harm from free radicals？ Is this the equivalent to eating vitamin E rich foods for protection？ Dr. Blake(m): Synthetic vitamin E contains eight different isomers. Isomers are similar molecules but different shapes. This isomer is not an antioxidant but is present in synthetic vitamin E. So let's say that your liver grabs some of these and puts them on the LDLs to circulate - no protection at all.

The Alola Foundation: Embracing the Women and Children of Timor-Leste

Timor-Leste, a country located on the eastern end of Timor Island in Southeast Asia, is known as the 『world's youngest nation』 as it became independent in ２００２.

Today, we'll go to Dili, the capital, to visit the Alola Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes the rights of women and children and nurtures women as leaders. The Foundation was established in ２００１ by the nation's first First Lady Ms. Kristy Sword Gusmão, who is the wife of His Excellency Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister of Timor-Leste. She currently serves as the Foundation's chairwoman.

She is also the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Goodwill Ambassador for Education and is the chair of the UNESCO National Commission for Timor-Leste.

http:／／easttimorlegal.blogspot.com／２０１０／０７／national-languages-conference-５-to-６.html http:／／embaixadoraedukasaun.blogspot.com／ (interview in English) (Ms. Kristy Sword Gusmão = female) Ms. Kristy Sword Gusmão (f): Women and children are amongst the most vulnerable sections of society both here in Timor-Leste and in many countries, and they often lack the political clout to actually have a voice, and to be able to articulate their special needs.

And this is the problem not only here in Timor, but all around the world. So we need to pay special attention, and ensure that women and children do have a voice, do have a say in issues affecting their lives, including policy, government legislation; these are all really important issues for the future of a country.

The １３２-member strong Foundation staff works hard to provide a range of services to the women and children of Timor-Leste, offering programs through the following four departments:

For more details on the Alola Foundation, please visit www.AlolaFoundation.org

Abir Alsayed: The Heart of a Compassionate Syrian Filmmaker (In Arabic)

<img src=http://suprememastertv.com/data/file/featured/751265946__VEG1570.jpg border='0' width='250'align=left hspace=10>From the United Arab Emirates a flower of compassion blossoms, reaching the hearts of those she touches with her fragrance of kindness. On today's Vegetarian Elite, it is our pleasure to introduce to you that beautiful flower of the desert, Abir Alsayed, a vegan director and producer for Hot Spot Films in Dubai.

Ms. Alsayed also works as an independent filmmaker, freelancing for Al Jazeera, a leading international Arabic news network based in Doha, Qatar.

(In Arabic) Abir (f): There are a lot of wishes that one hopes to achieve in life. On the professional level, I would like to evolve more as a director and do films on a larger scale. Of course, thank God, I'm now working for a channel that has millions of viewers. However, there is still the dream to make movies to reach the largest number of people through festivals and the like - and to make movies that have issues that are really important to me.

HOST: As a documentary filmmaker, Ms. Alsayed writes, “Films are a tool of change, they are a tool for the voiceless to be heard.” Today on our show, as throughout most of her life, Ms. Alsayed speaks out for the many voiceless - our beloved animal co-inhabitants.

In fact, her love for life is an intrinsic quality that has flowered within her heart from a very young age. Abir (f): I'm a vegetarian. I cannot say how long because I've been a vegetarian since I was born. When I was young, they kept asking me to eat meat. I did not see it as meat, but as an animal, not food. He is a being that has a life, children, and has... I did not look at it as something could be placed in a dish to be eaten.

HOST: In spite of being the only vegetarian in her family, Ms. Alsayed stayed strong in her conviction to have no part in the taking of animal lives while growing up.

Abir (f): I am originally from Syria. In Syria, there is a lot of vegetarian food, but they always consider it as appetizers being offered before the main meal. The main meal is always meat. When I was little and my family was invited somewhere, when they gave me food and saw that I ate only the vegetarian dishes, they'd say, “You did not eat anything!” You must eat meat in order to be considered that you ate well. So my situation developed further due to the love for animals or the aversion to live on [another's] blood. So, frankly, I can live relying on vegetables, not on blood for nourishment.

Today's show is the first in a two-part series where we explore the intelligence of chimpanzees and their sophisticated social structures with Dr. Tetsuro Matsuzawa, director of Kyoto University's Primate Research Institute in Inuyama City, Japan.

He has spent over three decades studying wild chimpanzees and made significant discoveries regarding their abilities and skills. He has published many books and papers based on his findings. Dr. Matsuzawa is also known for pioneering a new field of research called 『comparative cognitive science』 which involves studying chimpanzees for clues as to how human intelligence and behavior evolved over time.

Dr. Tetsuro Matsuzawa (m): The chimpanzee is the most intimate being, and can be called an evolutionary neighbor for a man. If we can understand a chimpanzee well, we can also understand animals other than human beings.

HOST: For his important research work on chimpanzees, Dr. Matsuzawa received the Prince Chichibu Memorial Science Award in １９９１, the Jane Goodall Award in ２００１, and the Medal with a Purple Ribbon from the Japanese government in ２００４. Let us now learn more about his study of these primates in Africa.

Supreme Master TV (f): We hear that you go to Africa every year. And you are also studying the social behavior of wild chimpanzees. First of all, please explain to us their family structure and how they live in the forests.

Dr. Tetsuro Matsuzawa (m): Chimpanzees live only in Africa. They exist nowhere else but the equatorial forests of Africa and areas of savanna surrounded by these forests. Their habitats are distributed widely from Tanzania in the east to Guinea or Senegal in the west. Their family or their society is mostly made up of tens of chimpanzees or sometimes over a hundred. So they live together in groups. The group consists of multiple male and female adult chimpanzees, and of course their children.

Male baby chimpanzees stay among the group all their lives. But female chimpanzees leave the group or transfer to the next or nearby group whenever they reach adulthood or enter puberty and are ready to give birth. We call it a paternal society meaning a society built on fathers.

For more details on Dr. Matsuzawa, please visit www.PRI.kyoto-u.ac.jp
