Researchers from the University of Nottingham in the UK found that subtle branding on cigarette packets misleads smokers into believing that certain products are less harmful than others. A survey of 1300 people showed, for example, that products labeled "smooth", "silver" or "gold" are mistakenly believed to be healthier
and easier to give up.

Chief Executive of Action on Smoking and Health Deborah Arnott said this research shows that all tobacco products should be sold in plain packaging to remove false beliefs and convey the message that all cigarettes are dangerous.

Our heartfelt thanks, Chief Executive Arnott and all researchers for highlighting the importance of portraying the truth, that cigarette smoking is a debilitating habit.

May future generations be blessed with radiant health through informed decisions that offer freedom from all addictions.
