In animal news, German scientists discover a new species of ape in Southeast Asia. The German Primate Center announced the finding of a very rare and endangered crested gibbon. The precious primate was sighted in the tropical rainforests between Âu Lạc (Vietnam), Laos, and Cambodia. This northern buffed-cheeked gibbon or Nomascus annamensis, the seventh species of crested gibbon known, has a unique song. The males are covered with black fur, have a brownish chest and cheeks that are deep golden-orange. Females have orange-beige fur. The findings were published in the Vietnamese Journal of Primatology.

What great news, German scientists, to hear of these incredible animal co-inhabitants. May the northern buffed-cheeked gibbons be safeguarded for long, happy, and healthy lives.
