Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from Peru.
Torrential rains in December 2009 triggered a mudslide in Ayacucho city, the capital of Huamanga Province, taking the lives of nine people and injuring 28 others.

At least 200 families were affected, with some who lost all of their belongings. Expressing her deep sympathies and prayers, Supreme Master Ching Hai had asked that our Association members go to help the most vulnerable such as those who had lost loved ones and the elderly.

She also donated US$15,000, which could obtain US$81,000 in items purchased in the United States, based on Peru’s cost of living.

Covering their own travel expenses of approximately US$500, our Association’s Peruvian relief team went to the affected region.

There, they provided materials to build a kitchen unit in the shelter where the victims were staying, and distributed mineral water as well as non-perishable foods, nutritional supplements and warm blankets.
The team also offered supplies needed for young children such as diapers, towels and balls to play with. For the nine days they were in Huamanga, the relief team also prepared two vegan meals daily for the 150 displaced persons staying at the shelter.

In addition, the relief team went to other communities where they helped 31 families including elderly persons
and babies who had been affected or lost their homes.

As our Association members informed people about the vegan solution for the health of themselves and the planet, they found that the mothers were especially appreciative.

All relief recipients expressed their deep gratitude to Master, shedding tears of joy, applauding and dancing.

Supreme Master Ching Hai! (Gracias Maestra Suprema Ching Hai! Dancing)

VOICE: We are thankful for Supreme Master Ching Hai’s attentive care of the Peruvian people in their time of need and appreciate our Association’s relief team for their diligent endeavors.

May Heaven bless the calamity-affected with a swift return to their fulfilling daily lives, while we pray that such
dangerous conditions are minimized through our increased consideration of the environment.
