Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news from Nigeria.
Since the start of a monsoon season at the end of August, particularly intense rains in southwestern Nigeria have caused at least 20 fatalities and displaced thousands in the Ibadan city area.
Many homes and vast amounts of farmlands were also submerged along with hundreds of vehicles.

Flood victim (F): The flood that we were in, it was so terrible.  No place to sleep, no place to do anything. We have to move from  our place to another street to live and to stay there. It was so terrible.

VOICE: With all her love and sorrowful prayers, Supreme Master Ching Hai donated US$10,000 and asked that our nearby Association members please bring aid and comfort to the most vulnerable.

This amount could acquire US$198,000 in emergency supplies if purchased in the United States, based on Nigeria’s cost of living. Our Association’s relief team from Benin traveled to Nigeria’s Ogun state as soon as conditions permitted, covering their own travel and related expenses of US$850.

In cooperation with the Nigerian Red Cross Society and Ogun government officials, they prepared food packages that included rice, semolina, tomato sauce and salt, to deliver along with mattresses to approximately 1,000 families. The affected residents also received SOS flyers explaining the organic vegan solution to climate change.

Flood victim (F): Supreme Master Ching Hai helped us, and they gave us some food items and mats to sleep. I’m so happy.

Akinyeye Adeniyi  – Ifo environmental health officer (M): It’s just fortunate you came around at this crucial moment. It’s my prayer that the Lord will help you, your organization will continue to move forward, and our people really appreciated  your coming.

Adebayo Yusuff Ekun – Mayor of Ifo, Ogun, Nigeria (M): We are very, very grateful, particularly myself, I really appreciated the material given to us.

VOICE: Our thankfulness, Nigerian officials and Nigerian Red Cross Society, for your helpful efforts, as we also thank Supreme Master Ching Hai for her heartfelt aid and our Association’s relief team for their caring work. We pray for the Nigerian people’s safe recovery to their regular daily lives and that such calamities are eased through our gentler treatment of the environment.
