In animal welfare news, an Australian state expands a koala conservation park. The government of Queensland has purchased an additional 127 hectares, enlarging the Daisy Hill Conservation Park by nearly a third to 560 hectares. This is part of the government’s five-year US$40 million koala habitat initiative. After 20,000 trees have been planted, it is expected the sanctuary will be a safe home for approximately 80 koalas. This is an increase of 30 from the present number.

We are very grateful, Queensland government officials, for your care of the herbivorous koalas. May these delightful beings thrive in protected surroundings, enriching our planet for eons to come.
