Gathered by animal rights activists, the footage of Australian cattle being brutalized in certain Indonesian slaughterhouses was recently aired via the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) network on the nationally televised program "Four Corners."

The videos showed Australian cattle having their throats slit an average of 10 times, and dying prolonged, agonizing deaths while being beaten and gouged. Public outcry led to the temporary suspension of cattle exports to the 11 videotaped slaughterhouses, with several members of Parliament recommending that live cattle exports to the country be prohibited, while the group GetUp! gathered more than 210,000 signatures calling for a full ban on the live-export trade.

The film has also catalyzed citizens' demands for more information about animal treatment and the source of their food.

Although deeply saddened by the suffering, we thank Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the animal advocates for helping reveal the heartrending plight of the innocent cattle.
May the day come soon that such cruelty disappears as we show our respect for fellow beings by adopting the loving, plant-based diet.
