In animal welfare news, the state of Punjab, India announces the formation of a cow protection unit. It will be inaugurated by the police director general’s office in order to put into practice laws which have already been established. These include the Punjab Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act of 1955. The people of Punjab’s efforts to safeguard our bovine friends date back to cow protection movements extending across the state in the 1870s.
We are touched, Punjab government, by your leadership in demonstrating compassion to such a beautiful animal co-inhabitant. May your example shine like a beacon, encouraging others onto the same noble path.
