The best way to protect the planet is to be veg.

During Ireland’s East Coast FM Radio’s recent interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai, the reasons were revealed as to why the vegetarian diet is crucial to solving climate change, and is meanwhile beneficial to human health.

Interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai by East Coast FM Radio, Ireland
Sunday, August 31, 2008

Supreme Master Ching Hai : To protect our fragile ecosystem, by cutting down CO2 emissions, and the fastest way that individuals can do without a lot of protocol and ado is, is to go veg. Evidence points out that to produce just meat alone would cost 18% of greenhouse gas pollution. It’s truly critical now, as we have witnessed increasing disaster worldwide due to climate change.

VOICE: The interview, which was broadcast nationwide in Ireland and worldwide on live internet radio, drew appreciative responses from listeners who sent emails and text messages during and afterward.

A listener named Moira from Wicklow wrote in a text message: “Having come from an agricultural background where eating meat was not only considered normal but vital to our existence, how WRONG have I been?? Thanks Louise and the amazing woman you spoke to. Great interview and if you don’t mind the pun, your interview gave me "food for thought"! Well done.”

Another listener shared: “I just heard your radio online broadcasting live interview that you had with Supreme Master. It’s very educational. I love Supreme Master Ching Hai’s conversation! You should interview her more.”

S.L., a listener wrote, “The subjects that were discussed are vital to the survival of our beautiful planet.”

From a listener in the United States: “Dear East Coast FM,
You guys rock! I just heard the interview via internet with Supreme Master Ching Hai. And I was really impressed with the questions - they were well-rounded, covered everything, and unbiased, and informative. And the way you presented the facts was just great. It's so encouraging that media personnel such as yourselves are helping to inform the public on ways to better our planet. Awesome interview, Thank you!”

An email from Sonia stated: “Please have her for another show. Then people would know more about the situation that our planet is in.”

Another text message read: "Oh my God, so it takes more land to feed cattle, sheep than to feed people. I never thought of that, thought I was doing good by not using aerosols.”

From Vicki from Arklow: “Guys, I’ve always been vegetarian, and tonight not only did you make me feel normal but fantastic for doing my bit! More shows like this please…”

VOICE: East Coast FM Radio’s co-host Louise Kings became vegetarian 7 months ago. When her dog was diagnosed with cancer, after researching on the internet, Ms. Kings changed her dog’s diet to vegetarian. As a result, the cancer stopped spreading completely, and her dog lived two more years. Ms. Kings’ decision to be vegetarian was further motivated by her reading of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Alternative Living flyer at an exhibition booth in Dublin.

The program’s co-host, Mike the Sandman, became a vegan after the interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai and from recently watching Supreme Master Television.

Mike the Sandman (e): I just want to say, thank you very, very much.

Louise Kings (F): You have a recent convert there, Master Ching Hai.

Sandman (e): You certainly have a convert and I am very difficult to convince, but I watched a lot of your programs and I watched some of the scientific programs you had on your TV and I think that I’m convinced. And I really, really appreciate you taking the time to talk to us.

VOICE: We thank Mike the Sandman, Louise Kings and East Coast FM Radio for bringing useful and beneficial information through the airwaves to people in Ireland and worldwide.

We also express our heartfelt thanks to Supreme Master Ching Hai who has helped many understand and take the steps to being healthier persons and more effective stewards of our precious planet.

Please also tune in to Supreme Master Television’s Words of Wisdom at a later date for the full broadcast of this interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai, with multi-language subtitles.

Livestock industry expert calls for significant meat reductions in response to global warming.

During the 2008 Crawford Fund Conference in Canberra, Australia, Mr. Shaun Coffery, CEO of Industry Research, Ltd. told participants that people in developed nations would need to reduce meat consumption by two-thirds. He stated, “Livestock enterprises are being directly affected by climate change while at the same time contributing to that change.  The task of reducing or maintaining emissions at current levels from livestock is daunting.” Mr. Coffery also highlighted some of the other effect of global warming such as the re-emergence of diseases such as Rift Valley disease in Africa and the spread of Blue Tongue into parts of Europe.
Our sincere appreciation, Mr. Coffery, for your forthright appraisal and recognition of the need to change current practices. With God’s grace, may everyone be endowed with continued prosperity as we turn toward the plant-based diet as an assured means of sustaining the lives of all beings on Earth.

Scientists raise concern about nitrogen in global warming.

In studies of melting Arctic permafrost, US marine biologist Dr. Anne Giblin has been focusing on nitrogen as a factor in climate change. Nitrogen and methane are two of the main gases released when permafrost melts. Nitrogen is also of concern to scientists because, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, raising livestock is responsible for 65 percent of human-caused nitrous oxide. Nitrogen residue in water runoff is a known pollutant and is not only detrimental to health, it is a major factor in oceanic dead zones, underwater regions that do not support life. The USA’s Stanford University ecologist Dr. Peter Vitousek stated, “The weakening of biodiversity, the pollution of rivers, these are local issues that need local attention. Smog. Acid rain. Coasts. Forests. It’s all nitrogen.” Nitrous oxide gas is 300 times more heat-trapping than CO2. Yet another source of nitrogen that has recently come to light is nitrogen trifluoride, which is used in semiconductors and liquid crystal displays. NF3 is said to be 17,000 times more potent than CO2.
We are very grateful, United Nations and Dr. Vitousek, for alerting us to the devastating environmental effects of nitrogen. We look forward to more careful consideration of these factors by all world leaders for more urgent action in restoring human and planetary health.
