Speaking to UN General Assembly members on Friday, October 7, China's disarmament ambassador Wang Qun appealed to the international community to create a viable long-term plan that would include prohibition of all nuclear weapons.

Saying that his country hoped for a soon resuming of the six-party denuclearization talks as well as the Iranian nuclear dialog, Ambassador Wang also called for a revival of the UN-supported Conference of Disarmament and its goal of fully ratifying the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.

We salute you, Ambassador Wang and China for your noble efforts toward the elimination of nuclear weapons worldwide. May we soon see the day that such a vision is realized and all societies enjoy relations of dignity, understanding and peace.
