Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from Peru.
In early April, towns in the Ambo province of Peru’s central Huánuco region were swept by torrential floods.
In two hardest-hit towns alone, nearly 200 houses were destroyed, 60 people lost their lives or went missing, and more than 1,300 were rendered homeless.

Parents were in grief after watching the currents take away their children.

Relief recipient (F): More than anything, I’d lost six family members who have been living in the disaster zone. I found five, I’m missing one.

VOICE: Local governments provided some immediate food, tents and healthcare. Expressing her love and prayers for the Peruvian people, Supreme Master Ching Hai donated US$3,200 for our nearby Association members to go offer assistance to those most in need.

This amount could purchase US$17,000 in needed supplies if bought in the United States, based on Peru’s cost of living. Traveling to the flood-stricken Ambo province, our Peruvian Association members delivered drinking water and warm clothes to the victims.

In addition, monetary gifts were offered for the most desperate households to be able to obtain further essential items. Around 100 families received Supreme Master Ching Hai’s aid from afar.

Relief recipient (F): Thank you. I give thanks to the Master for donating all we need, God bless. Thanks.

Relief recipient (F): Thank you, Master Ching Hai, thank you. Thank you very much.

Relief recipient (M): On behalf of all victims of Ambo province, we do thank you, Master Ching Hai. Many thanks!

VOICE: With appreciation for the assistance of the local governments, we are also grateful for Supreme Master Ching Hai’s attentive aid to the flood victims.

May the Peruvian people quickly recover the regularity of their day-to-day lives as we work to ease such extreme weather events through our greater environmental care.
