Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from Formosa (Taiwan).
In August 2009, typhoon Morakot descended upon southern Formosa. As the deadliest typhoon to hit the island in recorded history, it claimed over 600 lives, buried villages, and caused US$3.3 billion in damages.
At the time of the disaster, Supreme Master Ching Hai had immediately offered emergency aid with all her heartfelt sympathy and prayers, asking that our nearby Association members please go render any needed assistance.

As per her loving instructions, our Association’s relief team had donated 14 power generators to 11 regional schools, enabling them to start their new semester as scheduled.

They also delivered 56 tents and daily necessities to local residents. Recently, the Chaiyi County government held a music concert to thank all the kind donors for their help during those times of need, and invited the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association to the event on behalf of Supreme Master Ching Hai for her caring aid.

During the concert, students from the 14 affected primary and secondary schools performed aboriginal music and dance. The Chiayi County government also awarded letters of appreciation to the donors, while some of the officials present conveyed their appreciation.

Tsai Zhi-Ren, Principal of Zhong-Xing Elementary School, Formosa (Taiwan) (M):
Because of the contribution you provided for purchasing the generators for our school, all the students were able to continue their studies without any interruption.
We really appreciate Supreme Master Ching Hai’s love.

Chen Ming-Li, Township Mayor of Alishan, Formosa (Taiwan) (M): We would like to thank Master for giving us so much support during the flood on August 8 (2009). All our citizens from the disaster area could feel your love.
Thank you very much.

Lin Mei-Zhu, Deputy Magistrate of Chiayi County, Formosa (Taiwan) (F): The typhoon has taught us an important lesson, which is that we have to protect the Earth, because we have only one Earth.
Hereby, I would also like to appeal to everyone to Be Veg, Go Green 2 Save the Planet!

VOICE: We join in sincere gratefulness for all who brought comfort and relief to the typhoon-affected Formosan people. Our heartfelt thanks also to Supreme Master Ching Hai for her unconditional love and aid, and our Association’s relief team for their helpful endeavors. May our planetary conditions stabilize as humanity’s kinder lifestyles help ensure the peaceful balance of the ecosphere.
