Following a powerful storm in early August that resulted in hundreds of fatalities, Formosan President Ma Ying-jeou affirmed that military efforts will now be primarily directed toward mitigation of the climate change effects.

He also stated that, in line with this goal, an order for fighter helicopters is being cancelled with the allocated
US$300 million going instead toward relief helicopters.

President Ma Ying-jeou, we sincerely appreciate such a noble redirecting of resources.

With concerted efforts as these across the globe, we look forward to soon restoring the harmonious stability of our shared planetary home.
