Aung San Suu Kyi gives first talk after seven years. On Sunday, November 14, the democracy leader and peace advocate was greeted by around 10,000 supporters outside the offices of the National League for Democracy headquarters in Yangon where she gave her first speech in nearly a decade. Dr. Suu Kyi’s address focused on the importance of diplomacy and the unified efforts needed to ensure the building of a democratic society. Emphasizing her own willingness to move forward, she stated, “I will talk to anyone who is willing to work for the good of the country and democracy. National reconciliation means recognizing that there are differences. I have no ill feelings towards the government… We must work together.”

We are touched by your benevolent spirit and uplifting vision, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. May your efforts continue to inspire Burmese fellow citizens as you step together toward the noble goal of peace and prosperity for all.
