Russian and Iranian presidents meet. On Thursday, November 18, Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev and his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met for talks during the Caspian Sea summit in Baku, Azerbaijan. President Medvedev affirmed his country’s readiness to support Iran in endeavors such as a peaceful nuclear program, with an example of their countries’ cooperation being Russia’s assistance in launching Iran’s first nuclear power plant at Bushehr, a project approved by the United Nations. The leaders also spoke of increasing bilateral relations, such as in trade and economics.

We respectfully laud Your Excellencies for your amicable and forward-thinking meeting. Blessed be such efforts in furthering the well-being of the Russian and Iranian people as you also foster a more harmonious future for citizens across the globe.
