Ecuador and Columbia renew relations. Speaking at a summit of Latin American leaders in Guyana on Friday, November 26, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and his Ecuadorian counterpart Rafael Correa announced the reestablishment of full diplomatic relations between their nations. Since taking office in August, Columbian President Santos has moved quickly in efforts to restore amicable ties with Ecuador, which had been disrupted due to an incident that occurred in 2008. At the meeting, the two leaders also pledged to appoint reciprocal ambassadors before Christmas.

Our respectful accolades, Your Excellencies, Columbia and Ecuador for the prevailing of cordial relations of peace. May your countries and their gracious peoples prosper in shared respect, understanding and brotherly love.
