Iran re-joins talks to resolve nuclear matters. During a two-day meeting launched on Monday, December 6, the first of its kind in over a year, Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili met with delegates from the United Kingdom, China, France, Russia, the US and Germany, also known as P5+1. Their purpose was to discuss the agenda of nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and peaceful nuclear cooperation.

Convening with Mr. Jalili were European Union Foreign Affairs Chief Catherine Ashton; Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns, amongst others. Following the meeting, Catherine Ashton described the talks as detailed and substantive, while Supreme National Security Council Secretary Jalili stated that Iran is ready for global cooperation in numerous topics. The group agreed to meet again in January 2011 in the Turkish city of Istanbul to continue discussing more detailed solutions.

Our respectful congratulations, Iran and all other parties, for your amicable and constructive dialog. May such consensus continue for the furthering of peace among the people of all nations in the world.
