Mauritania hosts international forum on journalism ethics. The three-day conference, which concluded on Saturday, December 18, was organized by the Union of Mauritanian Journalists and held in Mauritania’s capital of Nouakchott. Among those in attendance were International Federation of Journalists Secretary-General Aidan White and Mauritanian Communication Minister Hamdi Ould Mahjoub. As Minister Mahjoub reminded journalists to adhere to moral values upheld in Islamic teachings such as reporting truthfully and showing respect for human character, he assured of his department’s support.

Bravo, Union of Mauritanian Journalists and all participants for this encouraging forum. May Allah grace your continued endeavors as you seek to uphold accuracy and human dignity in the timely news you bring to the world.
