International donors pledge help for eastern Sudan. With Kuwait hosting the first such conference on Sunday, December 19, attending donor nations and investors pledged a total of US$3.5 billion. The funds will go toward improvements in food security, safe drinking water, education, health care services, micro-finance, and infrastructure development. Donor nations include Kuwait, Iran, China, the United Kingdom and the European Union, with the Sudanese government also allocating US$1.57 billion toward reconstruction goals.

Many thanks and Providence bless Kuwait and all other donors for your generous contributions to improve the lives of the people of eastern Sudan. May they and all Sudanese brethren flourish in prosperity, dignity and peace.
