Food Bank for New York City, the major hunger relief organization for the state of New York, USA, utilized federal funding to launch and operate Cookshop, a nutrition education program brought especially to children in lower-income public schools.

One of the keys to the program’s success is its hands-on approach, with the young students gaining direct experience of preparing dishes from the fruits and vegetables that they learn about.

The 700 teachers who have implemented Cookshop in their classrooms report that 92% of the children now make healthier food choices.

Food Bank for New York City, teachers and New York public schools, we laud your combined efforts to improve children’s health through the introduction of tasty and vibrant veg fare. May such plant-based inspirations become the norm for optimal vitality in these and many more children’s and
families’ lives.
