Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from Kenya.
In October 2009, Kenya was overcome by unexpected floods due to heavy El Niño rains, causing at least two fatalities and displacing 500 families in the coastal Magarini District as homes and vast fields of crops were destroyed.

Furthermore, the conditions gave way for mosquito breeding grounds, putting residents at high risk of contracting malaria. On October 30, Supreme Master Ching Hai pledged US$10,000 to the storm-affected, while expressing her sorrowful heart and prayers.

This amount could acquire US$297,000 in emergency supplies if bought in the United States, based on the cost of living in Kenya. Association’s Kenyan relief team traveled to the afflicted region covering their own travel and related expenses of approximately US$1,100. There, they distributed food supplies and mosquito nets to the villagers, who expressed their deep thankfulness for Master’s support and care.

We are also grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai for her loving assistance that brings comfort to the distressed, and to our Association’s relief team for their sincere efforts.

May the Providence grace the people of Kenya with a smooth recovery to the stability of day-to-day life, as humanity’s transition to kinder ways helps hasten the restoration of our planetary balance.
