Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from Bhutan.
A powerful 6.3-magnitude temblor took at least 10 lives as homes collapsed in the Kingdom’s eastern districts of Munggar and Trashigang and regional monasteries sustained damage.

On September 21, Supreme Master Ching Hai promptly donated US$15,000 in aid, asking our nearby Association members to go and offer assistance to those most in need while conveying her heartfelt sorrow and prayers.

This amount could acquire US$135,000 in emergency supplies in the United States, based on the cost of living in Bhutan. Our Association’s relief team from India traveled to Bhutan as soon as possible, where they assembled 140 packages of supplies for the disaster victims, along with shawls for the affected monks.

The team brought these, along with monetary assistance, and gave to Home Minister Gyalpoi Zimpon, who would oversee their distribution to remote areas.

It was the first international aid that the Kingdom of Bhutan had received for the disaster, and His Excellency expressed his nation’s sincere gratitude.

We send our appreciation to Home Minister Gyalpoi Zimpon and other Bhutanese officials for their gracious assistance. Our thankfulness also goes to Supreme Master Ching Hai for her comforting support to those in need, and to our Association’s relief team for their helping efforts.

Wishing the Bhutanese people soon restoration of their wholesome daily lives as our kinder, eco-conscious lifestyles help to restore the Earth’s stability.
