Saying that he was inspired by the actions of First Lady Michelle Obama to address a rising problem of obesity and other health risks, Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton of the international TV and film corporation Sony Pictures Entertainment has proposed more wholesome snack choices at movie theaters.
A recently conducted US survey in fact found that the public is receptive, with 67% of movie-goers saying they would likely choose available healthy snacks, while 60% of parents said the movie theater experience would be better with healthier concessions.
Suggesting such options as dried apple chips and unbuttered air-popped popcorn, Mr. Lynton said, “By bringing healthier snacks into your concession stands, you would be helping our country meet an urgent public health need.”
What a wonderful concept! Many thanks Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton for this encouraging initiative, and we can’t wait to see more appealing choices at the cinema, especially veg snacks, that keep us lighter in body, spirit and mind.
