NASA observations link tropical storms to global warming.

The US National Aeronautic Space Administration’s (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory has released a report based on five years of collected data showing that the number and severity of tropical storms increase as ocean temperatures rise.

For every degree Centigrade increase in ocean surface temperature, a 45-percent rise was seen in the occurrence of very high clouds that cause tropical storms. The study further stated that the present rate of global warming will bring an increasingly higher frequency of severe storms.

National Aeronautic Space Administration scientists, we appreciate this significant study that highlights even more the urgency of our time. Let us act together now to live more sustainably and lessen such unstable weather conditions for the safety of all.

In October, during the videoconference for the Stop Global Warming: Act Now seminar in Thailand, Supreme Master Ching Hai had stated the following: Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai Stop Global Warming: Act Now seminar Thailand – October 11, 2008

Supreme Master Ching Hai: The law of cause and effect is always very correct. So the only thing we can save ourselves is to be compassionate, to change into a more noble, benevolent lifestyle.

No meat, no animals product, then you can see immediately the weather will change. Everything will return to more peaceful, abundant because Heaven is merciful. And we have to start to be merciful like Heaven, then we can experience Heaven.

There’s no other way we can prevent such a disaster like this. That’s the only thing I can tell you. The way we are doing right now are destructive by all means, physically, mentally, scientifically, morally, which is all wrong. We cause suffering to others; we cannot expect happiness in return. What we have been doing brings us disaster and trouble and maybe mass destruction in the very near future. So if we want to have a good result, we have to start doing good. Be Veg, Go Green, and do good deed.

Âu Lạc (Vietnam) to implement climate change policy.

As a country forecast to be one of the most affected by global warming, Aulacese (Vietnamese) Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has announced a US$135 million national action plan to address its short and long-term consequences. Key aspects of the initiative include assessing regional impact, informing the public and creating local level action plans to address it. Your Excellency and Âu Lạc, we laud your commitment to protecting fellow citizens and the environment. May your program be a part of a successful worldwide effort to mitigate climate change and restore the balance of our ecosphere.

Two million flood-danger residents 'are not aware they are at risk'

British called to preparedness in face of flood risks. According to the British Environmental Agency, two million Britons are unaware that their house and belongings could be quickly lost to swelling rivers or the rising sea. In 2007, extreme flooding affected 55, 000 homes, with 1,000 families who are still staying in temporary living arrangements.

Chief Executive of the Environment Agency, Dr Paul Leinster encouraged Britons to check government websites for information that would help them to be adequately prepared for potential flood conditions. Our sincere thanks, Dr. Leinster and British Environmental Agency, for your efforts to ensure citizens’ safety. We pray that potential calamities such as these will be lessened through our benevolent actions toward fellow beings and the environment.

Nitrogen oxide emissions reduced in eastern US.

The United States US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) annual report noted that its regional cap and trade program in the eastern United States resulted in a 60 percent decrease in 2007 summertime nitrogen oxide emissions compared to the year 2000. The program, which received 99 percent compliance among participants, showed the biggest air quality improvements in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, West Virginia, and Kentucky. What good news, Environmental Protection Agency and United States! A green salute for your dedicated efforts and for those of all the participants as we look forward to further sustainable practices bringing a more peaceful and pristine Earth.
