Scientists confirm Greenland ice sheet melts are increasing.

Dr. Sarah Das at the US Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and Dr. Richard Alley at Pennsylvania State University have confirmed that the summer melt process, forming lakes that then seem to disappear, is actually a sign of increasing glacial melt into the oceans. The water from the summer lakes creates pressure, forming a crack in the ice underneath. The water then drains down through the crack into the bedrock at the speed of Niagara Falls. Once there, it allows the glacier itself to slide towards the sea faster than it would by melting alone.

We deeply appreciate your efforts, Drs. Das and Alley and all researchers, in helping us understand how our human generated greenhouse gas emissions are affecting the planet. May we all quickly act to halt global warming and restore the delicate balance of eco-sphere.

Reduced ocean C02 absorption speeds global climate change.

Research indicates that the North Atlantic Ocean is now absorbing less than half of the carbon dioxide that it did in the mid 1990s. With the ocean no longer acting as a carbon sink, greenhouse gases are instead filling the atmosphere. The research comes from a European Union-funded project on CO2 absorption in the Atlantic and Antarctic oceans, which are the world’s two vital ocean carbon sinks. If oceans, which had previously absorbed a quarter of the world’s C02 emissions, start absorbing less, the environmental impact will be immediately severe, with effects that could last for well over a millennium.

We thank you, European Union, for sharing vital information about this key element of the climate change condition. May God grace all efforts to support green living and restore our Earth’s sustainability.

Global warming could reduce Colorado River to 500-year low.

Scientists are saying that a continued rise in global temperature would significantly affect the level of the Colorado River. The river is the primary water source for residents throughout the Southwest United States. US Geological Survey scientist Gregory McCabe said that the anticipated temperature rise would likely put the river at its lowest in 500 years.

We are deeply appreciative, scientists, for informing us of the serious effect global warming will have on our precious drinking resources. We pray for the US government and its legislators to speedily find ways to cap human emissions of CO2 and other heat-trapping gases to protect our planet.
