Swine flu death toll continues its relentless climb.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the swine flu cost 7,296 7,167 lives so far worldwide. However, these are based only on official reports, whereas true figures are known to be at least thousands of cases higher.

Likewise, the overall infected population is millions more than reported government tallies.

Within a few short weeks, Ukraine has gone from reporting her first swine flu case to over 1.4 million ill with flu and symptoms of respiratory distress, along with 344 328 who have perished and over 78,000 hospitalized. Though evaluations continue, the World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that most cases are the swine flu.

Other countries have also seen increased swine flu fatalities, including France with 11 more deaths since November 10, and 38 people perished in Canada within just a 6-day-period for a total loss of 235 200 lives. Chinas death toll has risen to 53, with 49 fatalities in Israel, 100 fatalities in Iran, and 151 in Colombia. First swine flu deaths were also reported in Bosnia and Switzerland, where an infant succumbed.

We pray for all the worlds people who are suffering from swine flu and other zoonotic contagions. May this frightening yet stoppable trend of animal cruelty-related sickness come to an end through our determined efforts to protect public health with the wholesome and hygienic organic vegan fare.
