Cases continue to rise on Chinese university campuses, with senior epidemiologist Zeng Guang at China’s Center for Disease Control stating, “The recent clusters of school outbreaks are just the start of the peak season, which will feature widespread infections.
The virus will definitely sicken more people, with new infections rising more quickly than before, though no mutations have so far been detected. The total cases nationwide will soon double to 10,000.”

In Formosa (Taiwan), where critically ill swine flu afflicted rose in number over the weekend, patients have begun flooding hospitals with flu-like symptoms, prompting an expansion of outpatient diagnosis services. In the southern hemisphere, where the first wave of swine flu had subsided, a second wave is beginning in Mexico where 400 cases were reported in two days, along with eight deaths.

In Ecuador, following a prolonged, 28-day hospital stay, Lt. Col. John Merino, Security Chief to President Rafael Correa, succumbed to the deadly swine flu on Sunday. He is now among the 3,491 lives sadly lost since April due to the pandemic, which has afflicted persons across 180 countries in numbers too large to count. Other recent reports of fatalities include totals of at least 17 and 18 in New Zealand and Singapore, respectively.

Our condolences go to the grieving loved ones of all swine flu victims including Lt. Col. Merino. With Heaven’s grace, may such human and animal diseases cease to exist through a global shift to the nutrient-rich vegan diet.
