The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that the number of confirmed worldwide swine flu cases exceeds 308,000, although the vast majority of infections go undiagnosed.
In the US alone, according to the country's health agency, there has been heightened flu activity across 21 states and at unusual rates for this time of year.

The US government has also stated that the first batch of more than 3 million swine flu vaccine doses will be ready by early October.

At the urging of the WHO, the United States, Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom have all pledged to share some of their swine flu vaccine supplies with other countries in need.

Meanwhile, the WHO also expressed concern that 25 percent of deaths reported in the Western Pacific region, including China, Mongolia, Australia, New Zealand, and French Polynesia, occurred in people who were otherwise free of medical problems.

Though the actual number is higher than recorded, across some 180 countries,4,144 people have perished under attack from the swine flu virus.

In Europe, Spain and France have suffered the highest losses at 28 and 32, respectively.
Brazil remains the country with the most fatalities at 899, while the US has lost 593 lives to swine flu, and Argentina, 514. With 320 new cases in India, 8,477 people have thus far been afflicted, and  in Âu Lạc (Vietnam), 198 new cases in one day brought the total past 7,000

It saddens us to see the grief and disrupted lives of fellow world citizens in the clutches of this pandemic.
We pray that all realize the lasting protection from such illnesses found through the preventative and virtuous plant-based diet.
