During UN-mediated meetings on Monday, September 5, leaders of the Puntland and Galmudug regions agreed to an immediate ceasefire as they affirmed promises to pursue diplomatic means of resolving disputes.

Their accord also included a road map for reforms leading to elections within a year, with changes that include improved governance, political reconciliation, and other constitutional reforms.

We respectfully congratulate the United Nations, national and regional Somali leaders for your new accord. Our prayers for the success of your efforts together in bringing lasting stability and peace for your country and her gracious people.
