Mr. Jeffrey Richards of New York, USA, who is homeless, managed to climb onto the awning of a building adjacent to one that was on fire.

He was able to grasp the youngster, who was on the second floor, and drop the boy to Mr. Mark McLeod, who was on the ground. The heat then forced Mr. Richards to jump off the awning.

The two-year-old was rushed to a hospital. Ten firefighters also sustained injuries during their valiant work to contain the blaze. A heartfelt salute, Mr. Jeffrey Richards, Mr. Mark McLeod, and brave firefighters for your life-saving efforts.

We pray that all those requiring medical treatment make a full recovery, with God’s abundant blessings.
For his courageous deed, Supreme Master Ching Hai is honoring Mr. Jeffrey Richards with the Shining World Hero Award and US$3,000 for spending and/or medicine with thanks and all love.
