In a project at a Cape Town, South Africa detention center, young chicks are hand fed up to every two hours. Program participants have been trained to mother the fledglings until the birds reach maturity. The caregivers also pledge not to smoke or engage in anti-social behavior.

Mr. Lesley Jacobs, who takes care of two Lovebirds, said, “I've fallen in love with these two birds.” Our heartfelt salute, all who are involved in this fantastic endeavor.

May our beautiful feathered co-inhabitants thrive in happiness and safety, enriching our world with exquisite songs and graceful flights.
