The Canadian Food Inspection Agency reports that a number of beef products sold in Quebec have been recalled owing to suspicions of Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Meanwhile, food safety authorities in Australia suspended the license of a cheesemaker after all the company’s soft cheeses were recalled for Listeria. Food-borne Listeria infections, transmitted through animal fecal material, can cause such symptoms as fever, headache and intestinal problems, with complications that can be life-threatening especially for expectant mothers and unborn babies.

Canadian and Australian food safety officials, we are thankful for this information that guides the public away from unsafe meat and dairy products. May humans everywhere realize a preference for the hygienic and compassionate plant-based diet to free our world from such disease.
