Dogs and cats freed from a lifetime of lab testing. After a nine-month undercover investigation by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) revealed extremely cruel and inhumane treatment, a North Carolina, USA commercial testing laboratory was shut down. The freed animals include 195 dogs and 54 cats that have been transported to various agencies on the East Coast of the United States to be rehabilitated and prepared for adoption into permanent homes. The dogs and cats are, on average, two years in age, and have lived their entire lives in cages without sunlight. Lauren Gordon, a volunteer at one of the destination shelters said, “There are a few who are huddled up and will not come out of any cage. But none of these dogs have shown any aggression. They are just so docile.” We applaud People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and many thanks to all the animal agencies for your caring support in taking in the sweet canines and felines. May these gentle souls soon find forever loving homes where they will bring boundless joy and love to their human companions.
