In animal welfare news, Bhola the elephant gets a new home. The 38-year-old blind male pachyderm was injured by a truck in New Delhi, India, after he had performed at a wedding event. Though it was feared Bhola would not be able to walk again, he did in fact recover. The Indian Wildlife SOS team received assistance from One Voice Association of France and the Humane Society International of Australia. This made it possible to safely send Bhola to Elephant Haven in Agra. At this rescue center, Bhola will be in a natural environment and have the company of other elephants.
Bravo, all organizations which collaborated to give this gentle herbivore a wonderful future. May you have many beautiful days and years to come, sweet Bhola, in the company of cherished friends and loving caregivers.
