In animal welfare news, a rehabilitation center for gorillas opens in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund has inaugurated the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE), the first of its kind for orphaned Grauer’s gorillas. On the 350 acres of the sanctuary, intelligent youngsters, between the ages of one and five, are free to roam. It also gives individuals living nearby an opportunity to get to know gorillas better. Ms. Debby Cox, of the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance, who helped in the creation of GRACE said, “When the local people see gorillas as so much like us – they live in families, the infants need their mothers, they hug each other – you immediately get an empathy coming.”

Bravo, Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education, for your love and care for these sweet children of God. May all gorillas thrive in safety and happiness on our shared lands.
