Reclusive millionaire in Switzerland leaves fortune to animal charity. The neighbors of Mr. Erick Moradpour did not know much about him, saying only that he seemed polite and that they often saw him walking with his best and perhaps only friend, a faithful canine companion. When Mr. Moradpour passed away in October 2009, his great love for animals came to light as it became known that he had left his entire fortune of approximately US$9.5 million to Switzerland’s Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA), from where he had adopted his dog three years earlier. The funds will be equally distributed among nine SPA shelters in the southwestern canton of Vaud where Mr. Moradpour had lived. SPA president, Mr. Samuel Debrot noted, “We are very grateful … It’s an incredible sum! They tell me that this gentleman lived a very modest life and was a committed vegetarian.”
We pay tribute to the humble and faithful friend of animals, Mr Erick Moradpour. May his generous legacy grace the lives and hearts of many animal friends with lifesaving opportunities and the comfort of forever loving homes.
