A study published in the June 2011 Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has found that the sea level is currently rising along the US Atlantic coast faster than at any time in the past 2,000 years due to increasing global temperatures caused by climate change.

A study released on June 19, 2011 by Canadian researchers states that although tree planting to replace deforested areas has environmental benefits, it is not effective in cooling global temperatures and should not be considered a substitute for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
