Swiss glaciers 'in full retreat'

Rate of Swiss glacier melt accelerating. Two new studies by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology show that the glaciers which largely comprise the legendary Swiss Alps are retreating, primarily due to longer melting seasons. The Swiss glaciers are not only a source of water but also electricity, with more than half the country dependent on hydropower generated from runoff. The potential consequences of a full glacial retreat are thus enormous.

We express our gratefulness, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology scientists, for your diligent work in bringing our attention to these critical events. With Heaven’s grace, may we act together quickly to restore the health and pristine beauty of the Swiss Alps and other such natural monuments of our Earth.

In July 2008, at the Climate Change International Conference in West Hollywood, California, USA which brought together green Hollywood celebrities, notable speakers and climate experts, Supreme Master Ching Hai spoke via videoconference on the most effective way to solve the climate crisis and restore our Earth’s natural balance. Supreme Master Ching Hai : Vegetarian diet will stop the global warming immediately almost, 2 weeks until 2 years, that’s the maximum. Otherwise, if we all become vegetarian, or almost all of us become vegetarian, it takes maybe 2 months or 3 months to see the effect right away, like the ice will go back to where it was, the Earth will cool off again and our life will be much more in abundance, and war will stop, everybody would think completely differently, they would treat each other completely differently because the compassion in their heart will return to its pristine power again.

Scientists discover new forest with undiscovered species on Google Earth

Scientists find new species in Mozambique. Dr. Julian Bayliss, a UK ecologist based in Mulanje, Malawi, discovered while searching Google Earth an area called Mount Mabu in Mozambique that had not been previously explored by conservationists. When a team of 28 researchers visited the location, they found three new butterfly and at least two new plant species in the 7,000 hectares of rich forest, with more expected. Bravo, Dr. Bayliss and colleagues! Let us unite to preserve these latest wonders of our beautiful Earth in their pristine splendor.

Global Condition of World's Oceans

Oceana conservation group hosts climate change meeting. The event in Washington, DC, USA brought together a group of top marine experts to highlight the more than 50 percent marine life loss since the 1960s and present findings on the effects of overfishing, pollution and warming temperatures on the globe’s oceans. National Geographic photo journalist Brian Skerry demonstrated the damage of fish trawling to entire ocean floor ecosystems, while Jeff Short, Oceana's Pacific Science Director, spoke of the urgent need to halt current warming trends, saying, “We are breaking the planet's thermostat.”

Our thankfulness for your unified voice of concern, Oceana conference participants. May we swiftly step together toward sustainable practices that conserve our oceans and their vital marine flora and fauna. In a videoconference with our Association members in Germany,

Supreme Master Ching Hai : Fish eating is also very depleting to planetary ecosystem. They have proven that overfishing of sardines has resulted in many dead zones. Because they are there for some reason. They are there for maybe oxidizing the ocean, give life to some other kind of species or cleaning the environment. Whatever the species that God has left on the planet, they have work to do. Just like humans, we have work to do. Animals, they have work to do. It's just many humans think they're useless so they fish them up and eat them. But they're very, very useful to our ecosystem and to the health of the planet, and, consequently, to the health of humans and all beings on it.
