US pledges 40 million dollars to save Coral Triangle

United States supports Coral Triangle protection. During the second meeting of the recently formed Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI), the United States announced a US$40 million donation pledge to protect the triangle whose survival is at-risk due to climate change and pollution.

The Coral Triangle has one of the world’s most diverse marine ecosystems, containing 75 percent of all known coral species, and is home to 30 percent of the world’s coral. The countries of East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and the Solomon Islands originally formed the Coral Triangle Initiative to protect the region’s oceans and coasts. Our heartfelt thanks and God bless, United States, for your kind generosity in helping preserve the Coral Triangle. We wish the initiative much success in ensuring the survival of this outstanding natural wonder.

Turkey’s Parliament hears doomsday scenario

Turkey and the Mediterranean region face water shortage. The research committee of Turkey’s Parliament released a report called “The Effects of Global Warming and the Sustainable Management of Water Resources.” It states that the continuation of rising temperatures due to climate change will cause further drought in Turkey along with increased rates of disease and mortality due to heat waves.

The report also forecasts that Turkey would exhaust its entire water supply by 2030 due to the effects of global warming and that flora and farming throughout the Mediterranean basin would be jeopardized by these conditions.

Turkish Parliament members, we sincerely appreciate your concern in bringing this important information to the public. Let us all quickly act together to alleviate the potential devastations of global warming through such effective planet-cooling measures as the plant-based diet.

Romanian Government supports 90% of costs for building green houses from 2009

Romanian government promotes a green future for its citizens. The “Green Houses” program, set to be launched in 2009 by the Romanian Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, will provide 90% of the installation costs for solar panels placed on the roofs of any newly constructed home. A “Green Guide” booklet with details of the initiative will be released this December to bring awareness to citizens on solar energy and ways to maintain a sustainable and efficient household. Romania, we respectfully applaud your eco-friendly project. May governments and citizens the world over transition to greener lifestyles to protect our precious planet.

National Clean Energy Summit Generates Fresh Ideas

Green energy plans formulated for the US. At the recent National Clean Energy Summit, prominent American speakers discussed solutions for energy independence and sustainability. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the city’s initiatives to develop wind, solar, tidal power, and geothermal energy. Keynote speaker and former oil industry executive T. Boone Pickens expressed his view that renewable energy is truly the way of the future as he also described a plan to promote wind energy in the United States.

Former US President Bill Clinton affirmed the benefit of sustainable energy markets in creating green collar jobs and helping the economy as well as mitigating climate change. We thank and commend you, Your Excellencies and all summit participants, for your advocacy and actions in support of clean and green energy. Blessed be your efforts in paving a sustainable energy path that inspires many more across the nation.
