Palawan island deforestation endangers native birds.
Mr. Neil Aldrin Mallari, Director of the Organization Fauna and Flora International-Philippines, stated his concern that logging concessions granted for almost all the remaining forests on the island of Palawan province would reduce even further the habitat of birds such as the peacock-pheasant, placing them at greater risk of extinction. Mr. Mallari recommended the adoption of a proposed law that would control hunting and raise awareness of the need to conserve the forest as a valued resource.
Our heartfelt thanks, Director Mallari for your caring leadership. With Heaven’s grace, may we adopt sustainable practices that support all life, on the island of Palawan and beyond.
