Climate Change International Conference with Supreme Master Ching Hai.

On Saturday, a highly engaging dialog was held at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California, USA. It was the Climate Change International Conference, a forum that brought together green Hollywood celebrities and notable speakers, organized by the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association.

The event was co-hosted by Emmy award-winning television journalist Jane Velez Mitchell who lent her enthusiasm throughout the discussion.

Jane Velez Mitchell, Emmy award-winning television news journalist (F): Through this global event, the world is coming together to take immediate action on runaway climate change and the food crisis. Together, we can do something to avert a real catastrophe in the making, right now.

VOICE: Famous speaker, author and former cattle rancher-turned-vegan Howard Lyman opened the meeting with the case for a sustainable vegan diet.

Howard Lyman – President of Voice for a Viable Future, 4th generation cattle rancher turned vegan: I do what I do today as a hard-core vegan for the love of the animals. I know that no animal has to die for me to live. If we are going to survive as a species, we have to understand that our job is not to do everything. Our job is to do everything that we can do. And I charge you today with a very simple, straightforward charge. All you have to do is what you can do: Go veg! Go green! Save the planet. Thank you very much.

VOICE: Three panels were conducted, each with a different theme: namely, the urgent scientific facts of the climate crisis, its spiritual perspectives and the transformational role of the media. Invited as a special guest speaker, Supreme Master Ching Hai graciously attended via live videoconference, to answer questions from the panelists as well as the audience.

Live Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai
Los Angeles, California, USA – July 26, 2008

Dr. Gurminder Singh – Co-chair, Green Technology Institute: Given the facts on the ground, the changes that are happening, what else is out there that the human eye is not able to see? What else does the world need to know that we do not know about at the present moment?

Supreme Master Ching Hai: Concerning the point of no return, I’m happy to inform you that we have not passed it yet. Alright? Now, I’m very happy to inform you that we have gained like total three years and four months we have now, Dr. Singh, to change.

Because of the effort of everyone on this planet, who are aware of our predicament at the moment, they have been trying to work very hard to go out of their way to spread the news, the information about the danger we are facing, and also to spread the news about the solution we could all take action to save the planet.

Therefore many people are joining in our vegetarian and vegan circles now, and that’s why we have gained time. Because once they turn their heart into this compassionate direction, the energy, the compassionate and loving energy that generates is enormous. That’s why we can combat the negative power who wants to destroy our planet before we could even have a chance to be awakened spiritually. And as we go on, maybe we will gain more time. And let’s hope so. Miracles can always happen.

VOICE: Congratulations, all the participants of this successful, comprehensive conference on climate change. We are especially grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai for her precious time and comforting words of advice. May we continue to strengthen the hopeful trend toward a compassionate vegetarian world, thereby gaining more time to preserve our precious planet.

Please tune in to Supreme Master Television’s Words of Wisdom at a later date for the re-broadcast of the live Climate Change International Conference with Supreme Master Ching Hai, with multi-language subtitles.

Eight square miles of ice detaches from Ward Hunt Island in the Canadian Arctic.

The fracture of the huge piece of ice, which had been part of the underlying shelf for the previous 3,000 years, is considered by scientists to be clearly a sign of advancing global warming. In fact, rapid melting in the Arctic region has led to a shrinking of the once-giant nearby Ellesmere Island from an intact area of 3,500 square miles to what are now five small shelves adding up to a mere 400 square miles. Trudy Wohlleben of the Canadian Ice Service says these ice shelves took so long to form that they cannot be replaced. Dr. Gary Stern, co-leader of an international sea ice research program said, "We've been trying to get the word out for the longest time now that things are happening fast, and they're going to continue to happen fast."

Scientists, you have our deep appreciation for sharing this critical information. We pray the world’s quick efforts will reduce the effects of global warming and ensure the stability of our globe. (*)
