Serbia military plans to end conscription. Following approval by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic’s Cabinet on Thursday, September 30, the Serbian government announced its intent to end military conscription starting January of next year. Pending Parliamentary approval, the plan will also reduce the number of professional servicemen from 43,000 to 30,000.

Your Excellencies and Serbia, we appreciate your decision of dignity and greater peace as we pray the day comes soon that Serbia and all countries employ the military only for constructive purposes that benefit all of humankind.
