Iraqi prime minister seeks unity government. On Saturday, October 9, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki conveyed further wishes for national reconciliation as he welcomed formerly exiled political party members to return to their homeland. He stated, “… The door to return to the country is open. We forgive and turn the page because the country cannot be built on the basis of hatred and rancor... In this spirit we call on parties to come to the negotiation table.” As he called for all parties to join in forming an inclusive government, fruitful discussions were held with Kurdish leaders, leading to mutual agreement on many key issues considered beneficial to both.

Our appreciation, Your Excellency, for your commitment to peaceful reconciliation and a united nation. Wishing you a smooth journey to lasting harmony, prosperity and stability for all Iraqi people.
