Serbian leader makes historic visit to Croatia. In an effort to enhance their countries’ relations, Serbian President Boris Tadic and Croatian President Ivo Josipovic laid wreaths at the site where 200 Croatians lost their lives in Ovcara in 1991. President Tadic stated, “I am here today to once again apologize, show my respect and create the possibility that Serbs and Croats, Serbia and Croatia, can open a new page in history.” Media from both countries heralded the visit as a unique diplomatic opportunity, and Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor affirmed her country’s welcome as she said, “Today, we are turning a new page and opening a new book in Croatia-Serbia relations.”

We applaud your efforts, Your Excellencies, to make amends for the past in the interest of forging a new future together. May the people of both your countries flourish in peace, stability and friendship.
