Palestinian president lays cornerstone of new Brazilian embassy. Visiting Brazil, President Mahmoud Abbas symbolically placed the first stone of a new embassy being constructed to join the more than 100 foreign embassies already in place in the capital city Brasilia. The new embassy represents Brazil’s support of Middle East peace and Palestinian sovereignty, which has been joined by other Latin American countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Speaking of Palestine’s goal of becoming an independent state, President Abbas stated, “We seek peace. We demand this peace not only for our generation but also for our children, our grandchildren and their children. We know the Israelis believe in this peace."

Our respectful accolades, Your Excellency, Palestine and Brazil for your honoring of diplomatic relations between sovereign nations. May such endeavors be successful in bringing ever expanding dignity and harmony  to Palestine, Israel and across the Middle East.
