In humanitarian news, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) donated US$6 million to Kyrgyzstan in 2010. The funding was used for leasing transport and providing 20,000 metric tons of food, 8,500 of which was purchased from companies within the country. WFP Representative and Country Director Mr. Rasmus Egendal stated that buying food supplies locally is basic to the organization’s relief efforts, as it assists in creating employment and stabilizing markets. The support benefited over 845,000 people.

Our earnest appreciation, United Nations World Food Programme, for your generous commitment to the people of Kyrgyzstan. May the warm-hearted citizens of this Central Asian nation be evermore blessed with peace, abundance and sustainability.
