Evan Siegel, a fifth grade student, is a volunteer safety patrol officer at Salmon Creek Elementary School in Vancouver, Washington, USA. He helps fellow students to cross the busy street in front of the school. Evan was presented with the National AAA School Safety Patrol Lifesaving Award, the highest patrol award given, for pulling a girl to safety.
Evan had realized she was in danger when he saw a driver who was distracted by texting coming towards her.

Bravo, Evan Siegel, for your quick thinking and courageous deed! Congratulations on your well-deserved accolade. We are so glad the little girl is fine. May all school children be protected in Heaven’s loving care.
It just shows also that texting while driving is unsafe and should be regulated by law.
