Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from China.
On November 2, China’s Binchuan and Xiangyun counties of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province were jolted by a magnitude-5.0 temblor. Some 280,000 people from less fortunate backgrounds were affected, including 28 who suffered injuries as 30,000 homes were damaged and over 1,000 collapsed.
Expressing much sorrow and her prayers Supreme Master Ching Hai donated US$15,000 in aid on November 3 for those in need, an amount that could obtain US$117,000 in emergency supplies if bought in the United States, based on the cost of living in China. Most compassionate Master,
Re: Relief work in Yunnan Province, China On November 4, with Master’s instruction and donation, we distributed relief items of rice and cooking oil throughout three most affected villages and a primary school in Binchuan County. Some relief funds were also given to four of the most vulnerable families.
Seeing the less fortunate happily and gratefully receiving the relief materials, we were also touched by Master’s love.Many farmers in Binchuan County are overseas Chinese from Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Âu Lạc (Vietnam).
The two earthquakes this year left many houses in the area damaged or collapsed. Therefore, we delivered US$3,500 to 52 families in need, to help fund their repairs. In total, US$146 in travel and related expenses were covered by our relief team.
In addition, the earthquake damaged four primary schools in the villages of Hetou, Mahua, Liziyuan and Pingchuan. Upon receiving this information, Master donated US$20,000 to those schools for their rebuilding. We sincerely and gratefully are thankful for Master’s love and blessing to the victims.
