In health news, British researchers find children with dog companions are more active. Dr. Christopher Owen and colleagues of the University of London observed over 2,000 nine-and ten-year-old children in 78 primary schools in Great Britain. The results of this Child Heart and Health survey showed that youngsters who share their home with a canine friend have a greater amount of physical exercise than children in households without a dog companion. The scientists believe that the company of a pooch pal could also help decrease the risk of childhood obesity.

Our thankfulness, Dr. Christopher Owen and fellow researchers, for highlighting one of the benefits of sharing our lives with well-wishing dog companions. May children the world over enjoy many happy and active hours with their loyal and fun-loving best canine friends.
