美國氣象學家表示在美國紐澤西州今年7月份是有紀錄以來第2熱的月份，而在華盛頓首府（Washington, DC.），7月份則是有史以來最熱的月份。

湖水過暖缺氧致魚死

美國印第安那州的1個湖泊，在今年7月份的熱浪期間出現數千條死魚，天然資源部（Department of Natural Resource）官員認為魚群是因水溫過暖缺氧而窒息死亡。

吸菸者更易罹患心臟病

2011年8月美國心臟病學期刊《心律》（HeartRhythm）揭露吸菸者罹患不正常心臟情況，叫「心房顫動」的風險比起從未吸菸者高出2倍，曾吸菸但戒煙者也比從未吸菸者高出1.32倍。
